FAQs: Your Guide to the Best Facials, Waxing, and Skin Solutions in Huntington Beach
Chemical Peel Questions
-
A chemical peel exfoliates dead skin layers on a cellular level, revealing fresh, smooth skin underneath. It stimulates new healthy skin cell regeneration which addresses unwanted issues like fine lines, acne, texture, congestion and discoloration.
-
An introductory treatment to get familiarized with your skin and get you on the appropriate home care routine will take place before starting nay chemical peels; but will need to avoid exfoliation, sun exposure, and retinol products for a week prior.
-
We will walk you through the entire process, but you may feel mild tingling and warmth during the treatment. Because we work progressively, not aggressively, your skin gets stronger and healthier through your treatment plan, so extreme sensation is typically avoided entirely with our customized and progressive approach.
Post-treatment, expect some mild lingering pink tones for 20minutes - 1 hour. Progressively through the week your skin will begin to feel slightly dry and by day 3 or 4 mild peeling or flaking will appear for a couple days as your skin renews.
-
Yes, we customize peels to suit all skin types, ensuring safety and effectiveness for all skin types, tones and Fitzpatricks.
-
Avoid exfoliation & sun exposure for 14 days after, heavy makeup and sweating for 2 day after, and follow the aftercare provided.
-
Results vary, but most clients see improvement after 1-3 treatments. Although we encourage clients to think of healthy skin as a lifestyle, like exercising and eating healthy— in order to achieve and maintain result, you must continue to do what got you there. Consistency is key when it comes to anything with the body, including the skin.
Microchanneling Questions
-
Microchanneling is a skin rejuvenation treatment that creates precise microchannels in the skin to stimulate collagen and elastin production. Unlike microneedling, which uses a rolling or dragging technique that causes damage and inflammation in excess, microchanneling uses a stamping device for cleaner, more precise results with minimal irritation and down time. It also enhances the delivery of growth-factor serums deep into the skin, promoting faster healing and better overall results with less downtime.
-
Microchanneling addresses a variety of concerns, including fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, hyperpigmentation, large pores, and uneven skin texture. It’s also excellent for improving skin elasticity and promoting a smoother, firmer complexion.
-
Downtime is minimal, with most clients experiencing mild redness and sensitivity for 24–48 hours. You can typically resume your normal activities the day after treatment, though you should avoid makeup and direct sun exposure during the recovery period.
-
An introductory treatment will be done prior to a microchanneling treatment to familiarize our experts with your skin and prepare your skin with the proper home care. To prepare, avoid using exfoliants, retinol, or other active skincare ingredients for at least 48 hours before your appointment. Ensure your skin is clean and free of makeup on the day of treatment.
-
We will have you on an optimal home care routine prior to treatments, so after microchanneling, you will continue your home care, keep your skin extra nourished and hydrated and avoid active ingredients, makeup, and sun exposure for 24–48 hours.
-
For optimal results, a series of 3–6 treatments spaced 4–6 weeks apart is recommended. Results improve with each session as collagen production builds over time. Depending on desired results, we may recommend alternating between a chemical peel series and microchanneling series.
Waxing Questions
-
We offer waxing for all areas for face and body, including Brazilian, underarms, legs, back, chest, full face, brows, and full-body waxing. You can view our full Service Menu for all areas provided.
At this time, we do not provide waxing underneath the boxers for anyone with a penis, we only have specialty training in waxing under the underwear for people with a vagina. This is to ensure everyone’s safety and wellbeing, they are two different body parts that require very skilled training that is not provided under the California State Board Curriculum for Estheticians and further training is required.
-
Ensure hair is at least ¼ inch long (about the size of a grain of rice), if the hair is too short the wax will not be able to adhere to the hair. Gently exfoliate the area no later 48 hours before your service, keep the area well moisturized for best results.
-
Exfoliate the area gently a 2 days before your appointment and avoid caffeine or alcohol, which can heighten sensitivity. We also use high-quality wax and gentle techniques to reduce discomfort, so rest at ease, you are in the best of hands!
-
Due to the expert technique and high quality produts we use, most of our clients dont experience ingrowns and irritation. Although some people are more prone to them, especially those who exercise frequently, you will want to avoid tight clothing, heat, and heavy sweating for 48 hours. After 48 hours, gently exfoliate and moisturize the area regularly with paraben and mineral oil free product to prevent ingrown hairs and keep the skin smooth.
-
Waxing results generally last 3–6 weeks, depending on your individual hair growth cycle. Over time, hair grows back finer and less noticeable with consistent waxing. Every 4 weeks is the most common recommended time frame for best results— this gets the hairs on one growth cycle, and weakens the hair for easy removal and minimized regrowth.
-
While both waxing and laser hair removal are effective hair removal methods, waxing offers several advantages that make it a better option for most people.
Laser hair removal is not suitable for everyone, especially those with lighter hair, darker skin tones, or hormonal hair growth, as it often doesn’t deliver the promised results. Clients still experience most or some hair regrowth after laser treatments, requiring additional maintenance—often through waxing.
Waxing is more affordable and provides consistent results for all hair types and skin tones without the risk of hyperpigmentation, irritation, or burns that can sometimes occur with laser treatments. Additionally, waxing removes hair from the root, leaving the skin smooth and hair-free immediately, without requiring multiple sessions to see results.
At Brightside Esthetics, we use gentle, high-quality wax and precise techniques to ensure effective, long-lasting hair removal for everyone, regardless of hair or skin type.
Brow Lamination & Tinting Questions
-
Brow lamination is a treatment that relaxes and smooths brow hairs, giving them a lifted, fuller, and more polished appearance. It enhances the natural shape of your brows and creates a sleek, low-maintenance look that lasts for weeks.
-
Brow lamination results typically last 6–8 weeks, while tinting lasts on the skin for 4-7 days and about 3-4 weeks on the hairs, depending on your hair growth and skincare routine, exfoliating frequently will shorten the duration of the tinting.
-
Yes, the procedure is safe when performed by a trained professional. Mild redness or sensitivity may occur temporarily, but we use high-quality, gentle products to minimize irritation.
-
Arrive with a clean, makeup-free face. Avoid using oils or heavy skincare products on your brows for 24 hours before your appointment to ensure best results.
-
For traditional lamination, avoid getting your brows wet for 24 hours. With waterproof lamination, there’s no waiting period. Avoid applying exfoliating products directly to your brows to extend the results. Using a brow oil in between visits will help keep the hairs healthy for optimal results.
-
Yes, brow lamination pairs well with tinting and waxing to create a fully polished and defined look tailored to your preferences. We recommend getting your brows tinted and laminated at the same business to avoid any adverse chemical reactions. Our products are formulated to work synergistically

Dermaplaning Questions
-
Dermaplaning is a manual exfoliation technique that removes dead skin cells and peach fuzz from the surface of the skin using a sterile blade. This treatment leaves your skin incredibly smooth, enhances the absorption of skincare products, and allows makeup to glide on seamlessly. It’s perfect for improving dullness, uneven texture, and mild congestion.
-
Yes, dermaplaning is safe for most skin types, including sensitive skin. However, it may not be suitable for clients with active acne or inflamed skin conditions, as it could aggravate these issues. Deep wrinkling may not allow for the most thorough job since it would inhibit the blade from reaching those hard to reach areas.
-
No, dermaplaning does not change the texture or thickness of your hair. Hair will grow back at the same rate and texture as before the treatment.
-
Dermaplaning can be done every 4–6 weeks to maintain smooth, radiant skin. Consistent treatments keep your skin clear and free of buildup.
-
There is no downtime with dermaplaning, though slight temporary redness may occur immediately after treatment. Your skin will appear brighter and feel smoother right away.
-
After dermaplaning, avoid makeup, exfoliants, and active ingredients for 24-48 hours. Keep your skin hydrated and protect it with sunscreen, as it may be more sensitive to the sun.
Jet Plasma Questions
-
Jet Plasma is a non-invasive skin-tightening treatment that uses cold plasma energy to penetrate deep into the dermis without damaging the surface of the skin. This technology stimulates collagen production, improves skin elasticity, and promotes overall rejuvenation, targeting concerns like fine lines, wrinkles, and hyperpigmentation.
-
Jet Plasma is painless, with most clients feeling only a mild warmth during treatment. There’s no recovery time, your skin may feel slightly dry temporarily and you can resume your daily activities immediately after.
-
Avoid exfoliating, retinol, or other active ingredients for at least 48 hours before your session. Arrive with clean, makeup-free skin on the day of treatment.
-
After treatment, keep your skin very hydrated, avoid active ingredients for 24 hours, and apply sunscreen daily to protect your skin. For best results, follow any additional aftercare instructions provided by your esthetician.
-
Due to the noninvasive nature of this treatment, momentum must be built, a series of 5-8 treatments spaced 2-7 days apart is typically recommended for optimal results. Maintenance treatments may be suggested every few months to prolong and build upon the effects.
Body Facials & Peels Questions
-
Body facials and peels are specialized treatments designed to address skin concerns on areas like the back, chest, arms, or legs. They work similarly to facial treatments by cleansing, exfoliating, and targeting specific issues like acne, texture, or pigmentation, but are tailored for the thicker skin found on the body.
-
These treatments can target acne, keratosis pilaris (KP), rough texture, discoloration, and dryness, and hyperpigmentation, leaving your skin smooth, clear, and refreshed.
-
Avoid exfoliating or applying lotions to the treatment area for 24 hours before your appointment. Wear loose, comfortable clothing to your session that you wouldn’t mind product potentially transferring onto.
-
Some treatments may cause mild redness or flaking as your skin renews, but downtime is generally minimal. You will want to avoid heat, sweating and water after your treatment to ensure the product remains on the skin for best results.
-
For best results, body facials & peels can be done every 4–6 weeks depending on the intensity of the treatment and your skin’s needs.
-
Keep the area clean and hydrated, avoid tight clothing, and stay out of the sun for at least 48 hours depending on the treatment. Follow any post care instructions from your esthetician.
Intimate Skin Brightening Questions
-
Intimate skin brightening is a specialized treatment that targets discoloration and uneven skin tone in sensitive areas, such as the bikini line, underarms, and inner thighs. This discoloration is often caused by factors like shaving, friction, or hormonal changes. Our approach focuses on gently exfoliating and rejuvenating the skin to restore it to its natural tone and radiance, rather than using harsh bleaching agents. The treatment involves the application of professional-grade brightening products and gentle peels that work to reduce pigmentation while maintaining the skin’s health and integrity.
-
Yes, our intimate skin brightening treatments are specifically designed to be safe for delicate and sensitive areas and will choose from a variety of treatments that suit your skin and lifestyle best. We use high-quality, gentle products that avoid the harsh chemicals found in bleaching agents, ensuring a soothing and effective treatment process. Every step is performed by trained professionals who tailor the procedure to your specific skin type and concerns, ensuring comfort and safety throughout the session.
-
Most clients notice an improvement in their skin tone after the first session, but for significant, long-lasting results, we recommend starting with a series of 3–6 treatments spaced 4–6 weeks apart, then continuing with maintenance treatments and home care as needed. Consistency is key to achieving and maintaining optimal results, as the gradual approach allows the skin to heal and brighten naturally without irritation or damage.
-
Our treatment is gentle, so side effects are minimal. You may experience slight redness, warmth or sensitivity immediately after the session, but this typically resolves within 20min- 24hrs. There’s typically no significant downtime, depending on the area and intensity of the treatment, allowing you to return to your regular activities shortly after treatment. The process is designed to work harmoniously with your skin, ensuring effective results without harsh reactions.
-
Preparation involves avoiding shaving, waxing, or exfoliating the treatment area for at least 48 hours prior to your appointment. This allows your skin to be in its natural state, ensuring the treatment is as effective and comfortable as possible. Refrain from using harsh or active skincare products in the area leading up to your session. Arrive with loose clothing that you wouldn’t mind product possibly transferring onto. Prepare to not sweat or shower after your treatment until the following day.
-
Aftercare is a critical part of the intimate skin brightening process. To enhance and maintain results, use the recommended home care products consistently provided by Brightside Esthetics. Avoid friction, tight clothing, or irritation in the treated area, and always keep the skin hydrated and protected. Sunscreen may also be advised for areas like the underarms or bikini line if they are exposed to the sun.
